Will Memphis Advance in the West?

The Grizzlies (50-30) have had their share of issues this season, highlighted by the suspension and absence of star guard Ja Morant recently.

The Grizz did a great job in Morant’s absence. Now, with Morant back, they have solidified the second seed in the Western Conference, just 2.5 behind the top-seeded Denver Nuggets.

In their home finale on Tuesday, Memphis upended the Portland Trail Blazers, 119-109, to notch their 35th home victory of the season, the most by any team since the Warriors accomplished the feat (36-5) in the 2016-17 season.

The 50-win season was the second in a row and sixth in franchise history.

Since the 2010-11 season, Memphis is sixth on the list above with a 55.6% first-round exit percentage. The Grizzlies have made the postseason in two straight seasons and nine of the last 12, including a 4-2 series loss to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors in last season's Western Conference semifinals. Last year was the first time the Grizzlies advanced past the first round in their last four playoff appearances.
