The most recent of the bunch was Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who finished second to Charles Woodson of the Michigan Wolverines in 1997, with Woodson becoming the first defensive player to take home the award, the biggest individual honor in college football.

It’s been a rip-roaring start to the college football season for Iamaleava and the Vols, who are 3-0 with victories over Oklahoma, Kent State, Chattanooga and NC State this season.
