Where Will Ja Morant Finish On Grizzlies All-Time Point Leaders?

After missing 25 games because of a league suspension for off-court misbehavior and then suffering a season ending shoulder injury after playing in nine games with the club, thereā€™s hope that this year could be the one for Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant.

The former first round pick out of Murray State has been electric when he has been on the court for the franchise, averaging 22.5 points per game for the club in 258 career games since getting picked second overall in 2019.

In Memphisā€™ season opener, Morant scored 28 points on 7/12 shooting with 10 assists and five rebounds, showing the all-around game thatā€™s earned him 20.7 win shares and a player efficiency rating of 20.4 to date.

While Morant and the Grizzlies face a preseason win total over/under of 47.5 on FanDuel Tennessee after bottoming out last season, itā€™s worth wondering how far up the teamā€™s all-time scoring leaderboard Morant will climb during his career in the Bluff City.

How Far Will Morant Climb?

Right now, Morantā€™s career point total of 5,805 ranks ninth on the Grizzliesā€™ all-time leaderboard, 72 behind his teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. and 177 behind longtime guard Mike Miller, who scored 5,982 points with the franchise between 2000 and 2008.

Memphisā€™ all-time leader in points is veteran guard Mike Conley Jr., who scored 11,733 points with the club, while forwards Marc Gasol (11,684 points), Zach Randolph (9,261 points) and Pau Gasol (8,966 points) are right behind him.

Former UConn star Rudy Gay (8,562 points), Shareef Abdur-Rahim (7,801 points) and Miller round out the points total leaderboard, with Morant holding odds ranging from +115 of passing Conley for the top spot to +100000 that he stays in the eighth or ninth spot all-time before leaving the club.

This year, Morantā€™s top focus should be on getting the Grizzlies back into the postseason after last yearā€™s disastrous 27-55 (.329) campaign, with Memphis getting off to a solid start on that path by surviving a 126-124 track meet with the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night in the teamā€™s regular season opener.
